I’m Yours

August 13, 2010

The first time I heard Jason Mraz’s song, I’m Yours, I thought I was listening to a Christian radio station. I freaked out because this guy sounded so much like Jason Mraz, and I was excited to find another Christian artist that I would reeeally like.

Well, as y’all know this song is sung by Mr. Mraz. Total. blonde. moment.

So I won’t hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I’m sure
There’s no need to complicate, our time is short
This is our fate, I’m yours

(LOVE this version)

This could be a song to God, right? Anyway, this got me thinking. How many other songs do I listen to that could be used as worship? There are obvious ones like Jesus Take the Wheel, but I’m talking about songs that aren’t so noticeable. Here are a few that I came up with.

Breathless, Taylor Swift Cover

When you feel the world is
Crashing all around your feet
Come running along
Into to my arms
Breathless
I’ll never judge you
I can only love you
Come now running along
Into my arms
Breathless

I listen to this song a lot when I’m sad, upset, or feeling defeated. To me, this entire song is a love note from God. No matter what mood I am in, when I listen to this song I feel comforted by His love.

Save Me, Marc Broussard

You know another year is over
Add another candle to the cake
I ain’t getting any younger no, no, no
Stuck in a rut
And only you could get me out of this place

Save me
Give me what I need
I know you can break these chains
And set me free
Save me
Give me what I need
I know you can break these chains
And set me free
Set me free

This one is pretty self explanatory. Love listening to this when I feel trapped or confused. Sometimes I even listen to it when everything is great just because this is such an awesome song. Marc Broussard is actually from Louisiana and the area where I use to live! :o)

The Great Divide, Hanson

I find hope and it gives me rest
I find hope in a beating chest
I find hope in what eyes don’t see
I find hope in your hate for me
Have no fear when waters rise
We can conquer this great divide

Not only does this song have a children’s orphanage choir singing the opening lines, but all proceeds of the song support a hospital in Africa working to fight pediatric AIDS. The song in itself is inspiring, and it reminds me to never give up. It reminds me that God is in control and to “have no fear when waters rise”.

I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!

Have you ever listened to the orignal version of "How He Loves" by John Mark McMillan?

I LOVE it and ever since I saw him in person a few weeks ago, I can't get enough of his other ones too.
